There were 71 HPH women and 74 HPH men out parkrunning across 62 venues this weekend.
Nineteen Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course and amongst them three new courses were added to the HPH list. These were Worden in Leyland by Jonathan Pryor; Abbey Park in Leicester by Andrew Brine; and Ecos in Ballymena by Samuel Hadfield.
Worden Park is a situated on the outskirts of Leyland, a town in the borough of South Ribble, Lancashire. The park features the remains of Worden Hall the former home of the wealthy Farington family. There is a playground with rides for children and teenagers; football pitches which are free to use by the public; an ice house which visitors can view; a hedge maze; and a miniature railway that runs round the park. The park is very popular with dog walkers (not dogging re Car Share). There is a dog-washing shower situated next to the main parking area. The Shaw Brook, which runs through the wooded area, is a safe place for dogs to swim.
Abbey Park parkrun course is one lap all on tarmac paths. The course starts and finishes at the boating lake in the centre of the park, and takes in all parts of the historic park including the river, ornamental gardens, cricket oval and ruins, boating lake and pavilion.
Ecos Park is around 220 acres of parkland that provides an oasis for wildlife close to the heart of Ballymena town centre. It includes woodland, lake, wetlands and meadows in the floodplain of the Braid River. The parkrun course is two loops that are marked by permanent yellow topped posts for directions and each kilometre. It is run mainly on flat, tarmac footpaths. The start is at the Visitor Centre where there is a map of the course.
There were four first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Anna Stocks in 23:24 at Middleton Woods; Brenda Gannon in 25:40 back at Lough Key in Ireland; Vicky Houghton in a PB time of 22:14 at Roberts Park; and Samantha Tecwyn in 21:12 at Woodhouse Moor. There were eleven other PBs. These were by Alison Hargreaves with 23:05 and Ed Shakespeare with 25:06 at Woodhouse Moor; Thomas Moulding with 17:29 at Preston; Gregor Lawson with 22:41 at Hampstead Heath; Andrew Carrier with 20:47 at Norwich; Alexander Perkin with 25:25 at Dewsbury; Jonathan Spain with 17:59 at Fountains Abbey; Joe Lawley with 27:21 at Whinlatter Forest; Joe Hogg with 26:42 at Selby; Frazer Carr with 17:26 at Doddington Hall; and Abdu Ahmed with 16:59 at Storeys Field.
Indi Lacey joined the parkrun 25 club with her run at Dalby Forest; Jonathan Coade joined the parkrun 50 club with his run at Salcey Forest; and Claire Booth joined the parkrun 250 club with her run at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.61% by Jane Prust at York and top male Age Grade% was 75.96% by Abdu Ahmed at Storeys Field.
