There were 93 Hyde Park Harriers out parkrunning across 34 different venues this week. These included Ralph Kidner who was over in Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia where he met up with former Hyde Park Harrier Daisy Karanasios. Another international parkrunner was Steve Milne who was the first Hyde Park Harrier to parkrun in the Polish “City of Wine” Zielona Góra, where the first finisher was Roy Reeder – the first first finisher at Woodhouse Moor. He thus also added a letter Z to his parkrun alphabet.
There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Andrew Carrier at Sheringham in 18:24; Rebecca Gray at Skipton in 22:00; and Amy Young at Bakewell in 19:16.
There were 14 PBs. These were by John Pratt with 19:28; Leigh Schelvis with 24:51; Lizzie Coombes with 25:40; and Grace Whyman with 27:16 at Woodhouse Moor; Jamie Dobson with 23:21 at Pontefract; Laura Kettlewell with 26:47 at Temple Newsam; Nick Payne with 20:26 at Cross Flatts; Andy Judd with 25:01 at Oakwell Hall; Steve Rhodes with 18:41 at Heslington; Sarah Underwood with 23:55 at Bakewell; Poppy Forwood with 57:40 at Middleton Woods; Laura Hasatings with 24:23 and Cara Sass with 25:23 at Armley; and Paul Farmery with 31:58 at Cliffe Castle.
Chris Jones became the 49th person and the first current Hyde Park Harrier to join the illustrious parkrun 500 club with his run at Portrush in Northern Ireland. He started parkrunning on 23rd August 2008 at Leeds and his first 60 parkruns were all at there. He has since gone on to run at 155 different venues in places as far afield as Bere Island in Ireland, de la Ramée in France, Amager Fælled in Denmark, Malmö Ribersborg in Sweden, Gdansk in Poland, Uditore and Etna in Italy and Oldham. He has been first finisher twice – at Concord, Sheffield in 19:39 in 2011 and at Bere Island in 21:36 in 2014. His best Age Grade% to date is 81.54% at Woodhouse Moor on 10th October 2015. His best time is 19:02 on 9th April 2011 – also at Woodhouse Moor. He has racked up 49 PBs and has held numerous best Age Category records.
Top Age Grade% by the ladies was 76.82% by Amy Young at Bakewell and for the men was 82.96% by Steve Rhodes at Heslington.
