There were 67 HPH women and 53 HPH men out parkrunning across 33 venues this week.
Fifteen Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course and one of these was new to the HPH list. This was Rooty Hill, in Western Sydney in Australia by Philip Fisher. Rooty Hill parkrun takes place in Bungarribee Park. It is an out-and-back course on asphalt, concrete and a small section of compacted gravel. Bungarribee Park is a 200-hectare park. It has one of Sydney’s largest off-leash dog areas, the Warrigal Dog Run, and an awesome playground with climbing tower, slides, a flying fox, swings and water play equipment. The wetland around Bungarribee and Eastern Creek is protected and 20 hectares of native wildflowers and thousands of native trees are gradually being planted to restore the original landscape, known as the Cumberland Plain. The parkrun course starts near Bung Shelter – one of 10 picnic shelters in the park that can be hired for gatherings and celebrations with family and friends. It is equipped with a large BBQ and has a capacity of 60 with 45 seated.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Emily Martinson in a PB time of 21:06 at Woodhouse Moor and John Pratt in 19:35 at Potternewton. There were nine other PBs. These were by Matthew Drake with 25:11 at Woodhouse Moor; Joe Lawley with 21:35 at Aviemore; Sam Dooley with 26:07 at Rothwell; Frazer Carr with 21:37 at Roundhay; Vicky Houghton with 22:56 and Chloe Brooks with 24:02 at Fountains Abbey; Steve Milne with 24:02 at Watergrove; Alexandra Natalie Smith with 28:18 at Middleton Woods; and Carol Rogers with 26:42 at Peel.
Clare Slorach joined the parkrun 100 club with her run at Roundhay.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.03% by Clare Slorach at Roundhay and top male Age Grade% was 73.90% by Chris Jones at Fountains Abbey.
