There were 54 HPH Women and 45 HPH Men out parkrunning across 39 different venues this week. Twenty-seven Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new parkrun course and amongst these three new courses were added to the current HPH list. The three new courses were all international. These were Avondale Forest and Porch Field in Ireland by Chris Worfolk and Gary Grant respectively; and Parramatta in Sydney, Australia by Tom Elcock. Avondale Forest is a wooded estate in County Wicklow. The park is rich in wildlife and notable features include a well developed arboretum and an incredible Treetop Walk & Viewing Tower. The views from within and above the forest are breathtaking, looking out to the Wicklow mountains, Avonmore river valley and the Vale of Avoca. You can take the slide for a fantastic descent from the top of the Tower. The Porch Field is an area of medieval farmland outside Trim, Ireland with a sunken medieval roadway that forms a National Monument. Parramatta parkrun begins in George Kendell Riverside Park before heading out and back along the northern bank of the Parramatta River. During the 1970s much of the area was used as a landfill site, but it has since been revegetated and is now one of Parramatta’s most loved and popular parks.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier – Amy Ramsden-Young in 20:07 at Potternewton. There were five PBs. These were by Robert Butler with 22:52 at Rothwell; Sarah Underwood with 23:24 and Louise Gardham with 30:25 at Potternewton; Laura Hastings with 28:41 at Rothay Park; and Steve Brown with 29:20 at Chevin Forest.
Rosalie Dang joined the parkrun 50 club and Anna Moger joined the parkrun 250 club with their runs at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 73.90% by Amy Ramsden-Young at Potternewton and top male Age Grade% was 74.27% by Chris Jones at Alexandra.
