There were 61 HPH women and 63 HPH men out parkrunning across 53 venues worldwide this week.

Thirty-four Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these courses was new to the HPH list. This was Navan in County Meath, Ireland by Chris Worfolk. The course is three and a half laps, run anticlockwise on a tarmac path round Blackwater Park in Navan. The park has a large playground, three sports pitches, remains of a ring fort and a Garden of Inspiration. It has views of Navan Town Centre as well as old ruins of Elliott’s furniture factory on the banks of Blackwater river, there is also a view of Tara Mines in the distance. Navan has some interesting public sculptures. One, The Bull, designed by sculptor Colin Grehan, is a prominent piece of public art. Situated in the market square of the town, this is a 16-tonne limestone statue of a bull being held back by two handlers and commemorates the historic bull markets that took place in the area. The statue was surrounded by controversy over its cost, an estimated €90,000, and its location. Local man Paddy Pryle noted that “anybody coming up Timmons Hill, which is one of the main entrances into the town, will be entering Navan via the bull’s arse. It is one of the most crazy things I have seen put up yet. Objections to the statue delayed its erection by 8 years.

There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Jonathan Spain in 18:14 on his first time at Bryn Bach; Clare Slorach in 21:13 at Potternewton; and Sam Townson in 18:13 on his first time at Sutcliffe. There were eleven PBs. These were by Naomi Gains with 21:56 and Meg Coleman with 29:26 at Woodhouse Moor; Lydia Williams with 32:47 at Arrow Valley; Jonathan Coade with 19:12 at Dewsbury; Sam Dooley with 25:15 at Temple Newsam; Richard Neal with 27:39 at Exeter Riverside; Jonathan Pryor with 25:44 and Charlotte Victoria Eva with 29:44 at Bramley; Harry Webster with 20:45 at Alvaston; Frazer Carr with 16:28 at Storeys Field; and Jason Newell with 26:24 at Vicar Water Country Park.

There were no new members of the official parkrun clubs, but Chris Jones reached 750 parkruns with his run at Swakopmund in Namibia. This puts him in 33rd place out of the 6,639,852 people who have recorded a parkrun.

Top female Age Grade% was 73.33% by Jane Prust at Hanley and top male Age Grade% was 79.17% by Rupert Jordan at Town Moor.
