There were 58 HPH women and 67 HPH men out parkrunning across 45 venues this week.
Twenty-four Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these courses was new to the HPH list. This was Edwin Carolan Community in Ireland by John Blatherwick and Caroline Young. The Edwin Carolan Community Park is in Mullagh, County Cavan. Edwin Carolan was a Gaelic footballer who played for the Cavan County team. A native of Mullagh, he was a member of the great Cavan squad which won the All-Ireland Final in the Polo Grounds, New York in 1947 – the first and only time the final was played outside Ireland (to observe the centenary of the Great Famine that triggered mass Irish emigration to the U.S). He won a second All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medal the following year. The park includes a full size Gaelic pitch (open to all sports), a 440-metre track around its perimeter, a multi purpose Sports Centre and Gym. In the winter, the track is lit each night from 7.30 to 10pm or so to facilitate walking and running.
There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Coralie Bell in 20:32 on her first time at Humber Bridge; Emily Martinson in 24:16 on her first time at Middleton Woods; and Peter Noren in 18:55 at Alstervorland in Germany.
There were eleven PBs. These were by Andrew Black with 19:16 at Woodhouse Moor; Andrew Sumnall with 21:10 and Becky Webb with 29:06 at Harrogate; Helen Noyes with 28:22 at Fountains Abbey; Cara Gates with 21:27 at Cleethorpes; Tom McNellie with 22:59 and Ian Martinson with 24:15 at Middleton Woods; Jonathan Spain with 18:57 at Potternewton; Laura Hastings with 27:42 at Rothay Park; Amber Edwards with 32:58 at Chevin Forest; and Andrew Nicholls with 23:05 for his 9th PB on his 74th run at Foro Italico in Palermo, Italy.
There were no new members of the official parkrun clubs this week, but Anna Stocks reached 400 parkruns with her run at Harrogate.
Top female Age Grade% was 72.08% by Coralie Bell at Humber Bridge and top male Age Grade% was 77.12% by Rupert Jordan at Town Moor.
