There were 66 HPH women and 56 HPH men out parkrunning across 50 venues this week.
Forty-four Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Three of these were new to the HPH list. These were Trelissick by Chris Harris, Dereham by Rob Riley and Zegerplas in The Netherlands by Jessica Wanless.
Trelissick parkrun course a one lap out-and-back undulating route which takes in woodland paths and views of the Fal Estuary. You may get wet feet if it’s been raining as the course crosses a small stream (which may or may not contain water depending on how wet it’s been). It is about 5 miles south of Truro, close to the King Harry Ferry. It is adjacent to National Trust property Trelissick Garden. On Saturday mornings you can access the course start via Trelissick Garden without having to pay the £15 admission fee that applies at all other times.
Dereham parkrun course is one short lap followed by one long lap around fields just north of Aldiss Park – the ground of Dereham Town FC. Dereham labels itself “The Heart of Norfolk” owing to its central location in the county, the Tesco car park being cited as the exact centre.
Zegerplas parkrun takes place in the city of Alphen aan den Rijn in The Netherlands. The course is out-and-back along the edge of the artificial Zegerplas Lake within Zegersloot Recreation Park. Nearby is the Avifauna Bird Park – the world’s first dedicated bird park. According to Wikipedia, trains which head towards Alphen aan den Rijn railway station are notorious for not always opening their doors to passengers.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. This was Clare Slorach in 22:08 on her first time at Blickling.
Aisling Davis and Dominique Harris both joined the parkrun 50 club with their runs at Burgess and Clitheroe Castle respectively.
There were ten PBs. These were by Alison Hargreaves with 22:41 at Woodhouse Moor; Indi Lacey with 27:31 at Milton Country; Daniel Ellis with 25:13 at Roundhay; Carol Rogers with 30:50 at Watergrove; Naomi Miles with 23:12 at Middleton Woods; Paul Robinson with 20:06 at Armley; Chloe Wilson with 26:22 at Rothay Park; and Jonathan Coade with 19:47, Chris Jones with 24:37 and Debbie Brown with 30:55 at Chevin Forest.
Top female Age Grade% was 73.69% by Jane Prust at Blyth Links and top male Age Grade% was 74.79% by Ian Martinson at Hull.
