There were 54 HPH women and 63 HPH men out parkrunning across 51 venues this week.
Twenty-five Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Of these, two new courses were added to to the HPH list. These were Gloucester North by Ian Martinson and The Leas by Liz & Chris Jones.
The Gloucester North parkrun course is three flat laps on grass around the perimeter of the Plock Court Playing Fields in Gloucester. Plock Court is a 26-hectare park with significant sports facilities and a large open space for informal recreation. The park is popular with dog walkers and kite fliers, and has long views out to the surrounding hills. The area is bounded by hedges which provide structure and excellent cover for wildlife. Wotton Brook runs through the park and provides an interesting feature for wildlife and amenity. There are a number of mature trees that have been worthy of having tree preservation orders placed on them.
The Leas parkrun course is a flat 1¾ laps out and back to the end of the wide concrete promenade alongside a Blue Flag award winning beach on the north coast of the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. The course starts and finishes by the Sweet Hut on The Leas. The Sweet Hut is a mix of traditional sweet shop and tea room which will bring childhood memories flooding back. The long sand and shingle beach is backed by marshes and the small historic town of Minster. There are fantastic views of the estuary from the wide, long promenade. It is a popular spot for windsurfers, fishermen and walkers and those who just want to admire the great views.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Jonathan Coade in a PB time of 18:51 at Potternewton and Lesley-Ann Donnell in a PB time of 25:28 at Holy Cross College.
There were eight other PBs. These were by Thomas Moulding in 16:44 and Johah Kennedy in 17:39 at Woodhouse Moor; Fiona Campbell in 25:37 at York; Ben Mepham in 21:45 at Boston; Will Sykes in 19:09 at Rothwell; Daniel Fawcett in 28:03 at Bramley; Manesha Chauhan in 33:25 at Exmouth; and Andrew Dewar in 22:42 at Potternewton.
Heather Goodacre joined the parkrun 25 club with her run at Coventry. Simon McGrath joined the parkrun 250 club with his run at Warrington.
Top female Age Grade% was 72.89% by Carol Rogers at Heaton and top male Age Grade% was 78.29% by Chris Jones at The Leas.
