parkrunday 29th February 2020

On the first ever parkrunday to fall on 29th February there were 105 Hyde Park Harriers out parkrunning across 33 different venues. It was a pretty impressive turnout considering the number of local parkruns called off due to waterlogging, flooding and storm damage.

Four new venues were added to the Hyde Park Harriers’ list. These were Belfast Victoria by Grace Roberts; Chelmsford Central by Claire Hougham; Oaklands Recreation Ground in Birmingham by Manesha Chauhan; and Wollaton Hall by Tom Elcock – that as well as being this year’s venue for the English National Cross Country Championships also stands in for Wayne Manor in the “Dark Knight Rises” movie.

There were two first finishers. These were Philip Fisher in 18:28 at Valentines Park, Ilford and Amy Young in 20:39 at Fletcher Moss.

There were seven PBs. These were by Caroline Young with 22:39 at Pontefract; Sam Dooley with 27:57 at Rothwell; Caroline Sanders with 25:25; Lizzie Coombes with 25:58; and Peter White with 28:03 on the reverse course at Cross Flatts; Alex Greenwood with 21:01 at Oakwell Hall; and Tami Bond with 29:52 at South Boulder Creek, Colorado USA.

Danni Bryant joined the parkrun 50 club with her run at Woodhouse Moor. Diane Aykroyd got within 50 of her 500th parkrun with her 450th run, also at Woodhouse Moor.

Top Age Grade% by the ladies was 71.75% by Amy Young at Fletcher Moss and for the men was 70.04% by Philip Fisher at Valentines.
