There were 55 HPH women and 61 HPH men out parkrunning across 45 venues this week.
Twenty-three Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these was new to the HPH list. This was Leavesden Country near Watford by Monika Pugeviciute.
Leavesden Country Park is in the village of Abbots Langley. The park is formed on the grounds originally belonging to the Leavesden Asylum and St. Pancras Orphanage. The asylum and the orphanage were both constructed in 1868 and continued in various forms until 1995. Two of the original hospital buildings can still be seen from the north side of the park, which consists of two children’s play areas; three football pitches; an adult outdoor gym; a BMX track; and over 20 acres of woodland area. The south side comprises of about 50 acres of typical English parkland along with a variety of apple trees, a pergola and the largest Monkey Puzzle tree in Hertfordshire. The parkrun course is in the north side of the park. It is three clockwise laps of the Woodland Walk, Orchard and the football pitch. It is run on a combination of grass, permanent paths and trail paths.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Cara Gates in 25:16 on her first visit to Chadderton Hall. There were eleven PBs. These were by Lucy McKerrell with 21:27, Caite Burke with 22:21 and Frances Andrews with 28:16 at Woodhouse Moor; Richard Knighton with 18:29 and Nicki Derrick with 26:16 at York; Alan Beswick with 25:27 at Fountains Abbey; Joe Lawley with 20:20 at Keswick; Paul Robinson with 20:57 and Alexandra Natalie Smith with 25:06 at Bramley; Carol Rogers with 28:46 at Chadderton Hall; and Sam Dooley with 26:51 at Myrtle.
Alex Fells joined the parkrun 100 club with his run at Oakwell Hall.
Top female Age Grade% was 72.69% by Jane Prust at Ancholme Valley Way and top male Age Grade% was 76.47% by Ian Martinson at Hull.
