There were 63 HPH women and 65 HPH men out parkrunning across 51 venues worldwide this week.
Seventeen Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these courses was new to the HPH list. This was Fitzmaurice Park in Thorpe St Andrew by Rob Riley and David Grealy at the inaugural event. Thorpe St Andrew is a town two miles east of the centre of Norwich and is just outside the boundary of the city. During the nineteenth century Thorpe became a popular destination for visitors from Norwich and further afield who came to enjoy events such as the Thorpe Water Frolic and visit the riverside pleasure gardens and public house. The parkrun course is three laps of the park on a mixture of grass, trail and permanent surface. Recently controversial plans to transform the park into a festival hotspot hosting up to 7500 people have been given the green light.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Andrew Black in a PB time of 18:19 at Armley. There were fifteen other PBs. These were by Richard Cartwright with 21:22, Alison Hargreaves with 22:18 and Meg Colman with 30:23 at Woodhouse Moor; Emily Martinson with 21:47 at Preston; Naomi Miles with 20:37, Rebecca Gray with 20:46 and Emma Mackenzie with 20:55 at York; Vicente Ponsoda with 20:11 at Harrogate; Hollie Imisson with 31:29 and Kay Jefferies with 40:53 at Rothwell; Sarah Roberts with 25:18 at Bramley; Catherine McGuire with 30:15 at Chevin Forest; Steve Worthington with 20:50 at Roberts Park; and Joe Lawley 21:36 and Alice Houldcroft with 30:55 at Holyrood.
Oliver Isaac joined the parkrun 50 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor. Alex Greenwood and Tami Bond joined the parkrun 100 club with their runs at Morecambe Prom and South Boulder Creek respectively.
Top female Age Grade% was 74.08% by Clare Slorach at Woodhouse Moor and top male Age Grade% was 77.37% by Ian Martinson at Hull.
