parkrunday 29th November 2025

There were 50 HPH women and 63 HPH men out parkrunning across 43 venues worldwide this week.

Twenty-three Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were Coffs Harbour in Australia by Alexander Bell and Kirkharle Courtyard by George Anderson at its inaugural.

Coffs Harbour is a coastal city in New South Wales, Australia – 340 miles north of Sydney and 240 miles south of Brisbane. One of the city’s biggest tourist attractions is the Big Banana. The grounds of this amusement park are set amongst a banana plantation, featuring a large walk-through banana. Built in 1964, it was one of Australia’s first Big Things. Other attractions in the park include a downhill toboggan ride, ice skating rink, XD Theatre, Mini Golf, Giant Slide, Laser Tag, a water park, the World of Bananas educational experience, and escape rooms. The parkrun course is on a mixture of concrete paths and grass. It is an out and back with loops at either end going between the Park Beach Reserve and the Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve via the Coffs Harbour Marina.

Kirkharle Courtyard is a collective of distinctive businesses housed in converted farm buildings in the small village of Kirkharle in Northumberland. This includes an artisan bakery called The Running Fox which is the venue for a post-parkrun coffee. It is about 19 miles north-west of Newcastle upon Tyne and 12 miles west of Morpeth. Kirkharle is best known as the birthplace of Capability Brown, the notable landscape gardener. The parkrun course is around Kirkharle Estate on a mix of trail and tarmac with a meadow finish. Dogs are not allowed at this event.

There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Cara Cates in 22:18 at Roma Pineto, Amy Ramsden-Young in a PB time of 23:09 at Chevin Forest; and Alys Griffiths in a PB time of 24:29 at Park in the Past. There were five other PBs. These were by Edward Hale with 21:46 at Huddersfield; Emma Amor with 29:01 at Lews Castle; Jessica Wanless with 31:03 at Reeuwijkse Hout; Steve Worthington with 23:23 at East Holmes Field; and Sinead O’Hara with 28:54 at Parrs Park.

William Dow joined the parkrun 100 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor. Also of note was Woodhouse Moor Legend Jaz Bangerh who reached 750 parkruns with her run there. She celebrated this achievement by providing local, independent and fresh fruit from Headingley Greengrocers for the parkrunners.

Top female Age Grade% was 68.29% by Carol Rogers at Woodhuse Moor and top male Age Grade% was 75.07% by George Anderson at Kirkharle Courtyard.
