There were 55 HPH Women and 49 HPH Men out parkrunning across 35 different venues this week. Twenty-nine Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new parkrun course and amongst these two new courses were added to the current HPH list. Both of these courses were international. For the sixth week on the trot on his tour of Australia and New Zealand, Tom Elcock added another one. This one was Whangarei in New Zealand. Whangarei parkrun is the most northern parkrun in New Zealand at 100 miles north of Auckland. According to Wikipedia the town of Whangarei has three mottos – Non Nobis Solum (not for us alone); Love It Here; and City of 100 Beaches. Sounds an ideal place for a parkrun. Alexandra Natalie Smith, Becky Webb and Anna Stocks found another Z parkrun over in Poland to add to their parkrun alphabet with Zalew Żyrardowski in the city of Żyrardów – 28 miles west of Warsaw. Żyrardów was founded as a textile factory in the 19th-century. A sign near the entrance to the city states that it was the only city in Europe, entirely set up as a factory. Nowadays it is considered to be the only complete 19th-century urban industrial complex to be preserved in Europe.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Abdu Ahmed in a PB time of 17:25 at Woodhouse Moor and Rebecca Gray in 20:56 in her first time at Beverley Westwood. Abdu has been getting better each week and this was his first parkrun first finish in only his 20th run at Woodhouse Moor. There were three more PBs. These were by George Sullivan with 21:48 at Woodhouse Moor; Chris Harris with 22:53 at Bramley; and Chloe Wilson with 26:13 at Belton House.
Samantha Choma joined the parkrun 25 club with her run along the picturesque Monsal Trail.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.57% by Jane Prust at Rothwell and top male Age Grade% was 74.07% by Abdu Ahmed at Woodhouse Moor.
