There were 54 HPH women and 78 HPH men out parkrunning across 56 venues worldwide this week.
Thirty-six Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these was new to the HPH list. This was Bangor in Northern Ireland by Manesha Chauhan. The parkrun takes place in Ward Park, Bangor, County Down. The 37-acre park contains 10 tennis courts, a duck pond and a selection of wildfowl housed in breeding pens. In the park there is a large war memorial and also located nearby is the main gun from the German U-19 U-boat built for the Imperial German Navy. This war relic was donated to the people of Bangor, by the Admiralty in recognition of the valorous conduct of Commander The Hon. Edward Bingham whilst on board HMS Nestor while fighting in the Battle of Jutland in July 1916, for which he received the Victoria Cross. The parkrun course is three figure-of-eight laps of Ward Park on tarmac paths.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Coralie Bell in a PB time of 18:05 at Woodhouse Moor and Clare Slorach in 22:06 at Potternewton. There were nine other PBs. These were by Lara Chapman with 30:35 at Nostell; Colin Tranter with 20:17 at Rothwell; Kevin Longmate with 24:05 at Middleton Woods; Tom Walker with 20:29 at Potternewton; Caite Burke with 22:04 and Jack Gordon with 22:31 at Keswick; Rebecca Goody with 48:24 at Myrtle; Harry Webster with 24:44 at Chevin Forest; and Daisy Wales with 24:10 at Sutton Park.
Stephen Prust joined the parkrun 250 club with his run at Donaupark in Vienna. Also of note were Jonathan Spain who reached 200 parkruns with his run at Woodhouse Moor and Jamie Ryan who reached 400 parkruns with his run at Humber Bridge.
Top female Age Grade% was 81.84% by Coralie Bell at Woodhouse Moor and top male Age Grade% was 76.41% by Douglas Blackwood at York.
