There were 63 HPH women and 71 HPH men out parkrunning across 44 venues worldwide this week.

Forty-three Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were Rushmere between Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes by Paul Farmery and Mildenhall Hub in Suffolk by Frazer Carr and Rob Riley.

The Rushmere parkrun course is two laps on dirt paths through mixed woodlands, conifer plantations, beside a pond and across a meadow within the 200 acre Rushmere Country Park. Attractions at the park include a Sculpture Trail where visitors can search for fairies and have a photograph in the Giant’s Chair; The Heronry where herons raise their young in the Spring; and Dog Walking Areas where dogs can be walked on and off the lead including a dog fun area specifically for canines.

Mildenhall Hub parkrun course is three multi-terrain laps of 30% grass, 10% trail and 60% tarmac path, utilising the greenspace and paths around Mildenhall Hub. The Hub also contains a leisure centre with a gym, swimming pool and an outdoor multi-sports pitch, all run by Abbeycroft Leisure. Mildenhall is well known for the two large RAF bases – RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath located north of the town. Nowadays both are primarily used by the United States Air Force and Mildenhall is the headquarters of its 100th Air Refueling Wing and 352nd Special Operations Group. Due to the airfields, Mildenhall currently has the highest concentration of U.S. citizens in the country. In 2005, as many as 30% of residents were born in the U.S.

There were four first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Clare Slorach in a PB time of 19:55 at Harrogate; Tobias Adkins in 18:41 on his first time at Ellesmere Port; Edward Hale in 19:31 on his first time at Thorp Perrow and Daisy Wales in 21:51 on her first time at Alstervorland in Germany. There were eight other PBs. These were by Tom McNeillie with 21:50 at Woodhouse Moor; Andrew Carrier with 20:48 at Harrogate; Richard Knighton with 18:36, Hellen Beddow with 31:49 and Sam Edwards with 41:54 at Rothwell; Alexanger Bell with 22:16 at Huddersfield; Douglas Blackwood with 17:35 at Roundhay; and Frances Andrews with 26:55 at Armley.

Derrick Macey joined the parkrun 50 club with his run at Doddington Hall. Although not official parkrun clubs it is notable that David Grealy reached 200 parkruns with his run at Woodhouse Moor and Amy Ramsden-Young reached 300 parkruns with her run at Roberts Park. Liz Jones reached the “Number of the Beast” with her run at Phoenix.

Top female Age Grade% was 75.56% by Clare Slorach at Harrogate and top male Age Grade% was 73.62% by Reuben Keating at Middleton Woods.
