There were 88 Hyde Park Harriers out parkrunning at 30 different venues across the parkrun world this week. These included Vikki Hawkins and Michael Bowen who joined the parkrun 100 club with their runs at Futakotamagawa, Tokyo and Cleethorpes respectively.
Anyone would think that Hyde Park Harriers chose holiday destinations to add new parkruns to the Hyde Park Harriers’ list. Five such new venues were added this week. These were Torbay Velopark by Kate Soloman; Great Cornard in Suffolk by Russell Webster; Somerdale Pavillion near Bristol by Debbie and Steve Brown; Beverley Westwood – not a punk parkrun course inspired by a celebrity fashion designer, but the latest parkrun in East Yorkshire – by Vicky Houghton; and Tetbury Goods Shed by Liz and Chris Jones. Fortunately for Liz and Chris it wasn’t the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend as that’s when the Tetbury Woolsack Races take place where men carry a 60lb woolsack and ladies a 30lb one.
There was just one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Amy Young at Woodhouse Moor in a time of 20:06. There were fifteen PBs. Three of these were at Woodhouse Moor, despite the Unity Day obstacles on the course. These were by Alison Hargreaves with 26:35; Louise Gardham with 28:18 and Sam Edwards with 36:48. The other PBs were by Anna Moger with 26:49 at York; Anna Stocks with 20:17; John Blatherwick with 21:57 and Sarah Underwood with 22:39 at Rothwell; Naomi Kellett with 21:49 at Roundhay; Philip Fisher with 19:43; Steve Rhodes with 20:34; Jo Rhodes with 23:38 and Paul Farmery with 30:46 at Oakwell Hall; Laura Hastings with 23:09 at Bramley; Michelle Hancocks with 30:42 at Middleton Woods; and Mike Webb with 21:34 at Armley.
Top Age Grade% by the ladies was 73.63% by Amy Young at Woodhouse Moor and for the men was 75.38% by Steve Rhodes at Oakwell Hall.
