There were 65 HPH women and 60 HPH men out parkrunning across 48 venues this week.
Twenty-five Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Four of these were new to the HPH list. These were Newent by Manesha Chauhan; Tamar Lakes by Frazer Carr; Erskine Waterfront by Kathryn and Joe Hogg, and Market Bosworth Country Park by George Sullivan.
Newent is a small market town on the northern edge of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. The parkrun course is around playing fields of the Newent Community School and takes in a ‘muddy bank’ which is only muddy after prolonged periods of rain. Dogs are not allowed on the course. Newent is near a National Birds of Prey Centre and The Three Choirs vineyard. Gloucestershire’s largest free one-day festival – The Onion Fayre – with competitions for growing onions and eating them takes place in the town in September.
Tamar Lakes parkrun is a mainly flat, one lap anticlockwise course on tarmac and cinder paths around Upper Tamar Lake located close to the popular coastal resort of Bude in Cornwall. The start and finish are next to the Tamar Lakes Activity Centre where you can participate in a wide range of activities for all ages including kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding.
Erskine Waterfront parkrun course is an out-and-back course on a mixture of gravel and tarmac paths alongside the River Clyde at Erskine. In 2014 Erskine was voted one of the most attractive areas to live in Scotland.
The Market Bosworth Country Park parkrun course follows two unequal clockwise laps of the country park on trail paths and grass. Apparently single buggies are welcome but the course is unsuitable for double buggies. The landscaped Market Bosworth Country Park was formerly part of Bosworth Hall deer parkland. The park features a lake, a planted arboretum with many exotic species, a wildflower meadow and a community woodland. The park has a picnic area, lakes and fishing areas and play areas for children.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Thomas Moulding in 17:29 at Woodhouse Moor and Jamie Ryan in 20:18 on his first time at Jubilee.

Lesley-Ann Donnell joined the parkrun 250 club with her run at Woodhouse Moor.
There were seven PBs. These were by Jonathan Coade with 18:00 at Pontefract; Rosalie Dang with 29:30 at Fountains Abbey; Helen Noyes with 27:49 at Keswick; Catherine McGuire with 29:50 at The Pastures; Laura Hastings with 28:03 at Rothay Park; Graeme Miles with 25:20 at Chevin Forest; and David Grealy with 21:55 at Oranmore in Ireland.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.55% by Jane Prust at Drumpellier Country and top male Age Grade% was 75.49% by Chris Jones at Bowling Park.
