There were 70 HPH women and 66 HPH men out parkrunning across 55 venues worldwide this week.

Twenty-eight Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Three of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were Morden in south London by Ed Shakespeare; Y Promenâd in Barmouth, Wales by Clare Evans; and Hout Bay in South Africa by Colin Tranter.

Morden parkrun course is made up of three laps running clockwise on moderately hilly and grassy terrain with some sections on tarmac path around Morden Park. Morden Park is a 50-hectare public park in the London Borough of Merton. Of this, 28 hectares is a Local Nature Reserve. It is owned and managed by Merton Council. It includes Morden Park House – a small Georgian country house, that after many years of neglect and semi-dereliction, has recently been restored and is now the local register office and a venue for wedding ceremonies. This could be convenient for those parkrunning Hyde Park Harriers who have found love and want to tie the knot. 🙂

Y Promenâd course is two laps, each an out and back loop, on the north end of Barmouth promenade. William Wordsworth, a visitor to Barmouth in the 19th century, described it thus: “With a fine sea view in front, the mountains behind, the glorious estuary running eight miles [13 km] inland, and Cadair Idris within compass of a day’s walk, Barmouth can always hold its own against any rival.” Dinas Oleu (Citadel of Light), which is located east of the town on the adjoining hillside, was the first tract of land to be donated to the National Trust.

Hout Bay (Afrikaans: Houtbaai, meaning “Wood Bay”) is a seaside suburb of Cape Town. The parkrun course starts and ends at Ambleside school. It follows footpaths through reeds and a jeep track on the west side of Hout Bay River.

There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Clare Slorach in a PB time of 20:14 at Huddersfield and Colin Tranter in 21:19 at Hout Bay. There were sixteen other PBs. These were by Daniel Allison with 22:52 and Meg Colman with 28:07 at Woodhouse Moor; Conor Gould with 23:45 at Whitley Bay; Lydia Williams with 32:26 at Arrow Valley; Simon McGrath with 19:33 at Warrington; Edward Hale with 18:15 and Richard Knighton with 18:54 at Rothwell; Nicki Derrick with 27:38 at Temple Newsam; Aisling Davis with 27:37 at Buckingham; Alice Houldcroft with 28:00 at The Wammy; Daniel Fawcett 28:51 at Middleton Woods; Sarah Roberts with 23:23 at Armley; Andrew Dewar with 21:37 at Potternewton; Jack Rose with 28:39 at Chevin Forest; Andrew Black with 18:43 at Roberts Park; and Jessica Wanless with 29:52 at Delftse Hout.

Andrew Dewar joined the parkrun 25 club with his run at Potternewton. Rebecca Goody and Edward Hale joined the parkrun 100 club with their runs at Woodhouse Moor and Rothwell respectively. Peter White joined the parkrun 250 club with his run at Hillsborough. Also of note Tobias Adkins reached 200 parkruns and 200 volunteering credits with his parkrun at Woodhouse Moor.

Top female Age Grade% was 74.38% by Clare Slorach at Huddersfield and top male Age Grade% was 72.93% by Andrew Black at Roberts Park.
