There were 48 HPH women and 50 HPH men out parkrunning across 43 venues this week.

Twenty-six Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new course and amongst them two new courses were added to the HPH list. These were Epworth Equestrian on the Lincolnshire/South Yorkshire border by Liz & Chris Jones and Dan Waas; and Broad Park in New Zealand by Sophie Studholme.

Epworth Equestrian parkrun is the latest “local” event. The course is a couple of laps around a field adjacent to the Epworth Equestrian Centre. The Centre holds regular competitions on the 100 acre site including a British Eventing competition on the opening week of the eventing calendar and competitions every weekend from the middle of January until the end of November including Dressage, Show Jumping, Hunter Trials, Showcross, One Day Events, Quest, Combined Training and Arena Eventing. A horse is not required for the parkrun course. Note – an electric wire fence runs around the perimeter of the parkrun course field.

Broad Park parkrun is in Christchurch, New Zealand. The course goes along a coastal path before heading inland for a loop around Bottle Lake Forest Park. Bottle Lake Forest is a production forest and recreational park. Trees are felled and logged in a 30-year rotation. The park also has a Fairy Village. The fairy houses sprung up during the Covid19 lockdown with many families passing through the forest for exercise. From a few scattered houses to hundreds, the fairy forest became an outlet for creativity and entertainment for children (and adults!) stuck at home.

There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers this week. These were Thomas Moulding in a PB time of 17:45 at Armley and David Grealy in 20:32 at Inis Meáin. There were eight other PBs. These were by Jordan Clifford with 21:35 and Vicky Houghton with 22:12 at Woodhouse Moor; Joe Lawley with 21:38 and Sarah Jewers with 26:58 at Armley; Frances Andrews with 33:39 and Alison Hargreaves with 33:40 at Chevin Forest; Ellie Shipp with 27:41 at Bower Park and Becky Webb with 29:35 at Roberts Park.

Abdu Ahmed joined the parkrun 50 club with his run at Scunthorpe.

Top female Age Grade% was 72.58% by Helen Williams at Harrogate and top male Age Grade% was 72.77% by Thomas Moulding at Armley.
