There were 50 HPH Women and 43 HPH Men out parkrunning across 31 different venues this week. Three new venues, including one in a new country were added to the HPH list. The new country was Austria where Tom Elcock added Hellbrunn in Salzburg. Hellbrunn Palace park is one of the filming locations of “The Sound of Music” – containing the gazebo – the setting for the two main love scenes: “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” (Liesl and Rolf) and “Something Good” (Maria and the Captain). Another international venue added this week was Downsview Park in Toronto, Canada by Rosalie Dang. An unusual feature of this large urban park is that it contains an operational airport. Back in the UK, Pavels Sidlovskis added the recently started Charlton parkun in Greenwich. Sharing some similarities with our own Temple Newsam Park – both have been awarded the Green Flag Award – Charlton Park also boasts Charlton House on the site. Like Temple Newsam House it is one of the finest remaining examples of Jacobean architecture. Around the house is an array of gardens. One of these, known as the sensory garden that specifically focuses on plants that can be appreciated by people with visual or physical disabilities.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Anna Stocks in 21:36 at Roundhay and Amy Ramsden-Young in 19:19 at Dewsbury. There were eight PBs. These were by Dominic O’Key with 18:59, Gemma Newman with 26:37, Jane Prust with 26:39, Karly Stringer with 27:12 and Eleanor Bredin with 31:06 at Woodhouse Moor; Sam Dooley with 25:50 at Middleton Woods; and Heather Fulton 33:14 and Anna Moger with 35:21 at Chevin Forest.
Rebecca Thorley and Paul Dickens joined the parkrun 100 club with their runs at Woodhouse Moor and Endcliffe respectively. Liz Jones joined the parkrun 500 club with her run over at Rothwell, although she didn’t realise it until the result came through!
Top female Age Grade% was 76.96% by Amy Ramsden-Young at Dewsbury and top male Age Grade% was 74.87% by Gordon Crawford at Woodhouse Moor.
