There were 61 HPH Women and 47 HPH Men out parkrunning across 44 different venues this week. Twenty-seven Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new parkrun course and amongst these three new courses were added to the current HPH list. These were Downham Market Academy by first finshing Rob Riley in an overture time of 18:12; Stratford Park by Paul Farmery; and Pegasus in New Zealand by Tom Elcock. The Downham Market Academy course is what it says on the tin. Four laps of the school playing fields, including the school tarmac playgrounds at Downham Market Academy school. Stratford parkrun probably isn’t where you would expect it to be. It’s in neither Stratford-upon-Avon or Stratford in the east end of London, but in Stratford Park in Stroud. This is a large park and lake on the outskirts of Stroud. The leisure centre within the park offers plenty of facilities including a gym, 25 metre indoor swimming pool with viewing area, outdoor pool (with rare 10m cast-in-situ curved concrete 3-level diving board), trampolining, two sports halls, outdoor astroturf all-weather pitch, hard court tennis courts, and a bowls pitch. There are also squash courts and badminton courts. There is a 6-inch scale model railway track skirting the lake. Pegasus is a new town (really new town – proposed 1997, building started 2006, 90% completed 2016) 25 km north of Christchurch, named for the nearby Pegasus Bay.
There were ten PBs. These were by Sioned Lloyd Owen with 23:13, Hebe Lockyer with 26:58, Muyang Zhang with 28:19, and Elijah Woods with 48:37 at Woodhouse Moor; Fleur Siswick with 24:00 at Norwich; Grace Roberts with 28:45 at Shipley County; Will Jeeps with 19:24 at Bradford; Jane Prust with 28:22 and Stephen Prust with 36:04 at Roundhay; and Gary Grant with 20:09 at Tramore Valley.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.37% by Hilary Lund at Pontefract and top male Age Grade% was 70.88% by Rob Riley at Downham Market Academy.
