There were 97 Hyde Park Harriers out parkrunning across 31 different venues this week. These included Sarah Markless and Curtis Parker-Milnes who were down at the home of parkrun in Bushy Park to celebrate the 15th birthday of parkrun and 42 Hyde Park Harriers at Woodhouse Moor to celebrate its parkrun’s 12th birthday. The Woodhouse Moor contingent included Jaz Bangerh who was one of the runners at that first Woodhouse Moor parkrun in 2007. She completed her 495th parkrun this week. Tami Bond added South Boulder Creek parkrun in Boulder, Colorado to the Hyde Park Harriers venue list. Apparently Boulder is the USA’s happiest city – having a parkrun must help.
Super tourists Tom Elcock and Steve Milne both added new international parkruns to their lists. Steve added Milano Nord in Italy and Tom added another Z to his parkrun alphabet with Zielona Góra in Poland.
There were two first finishers. These were Sarah Underwood in a PB time of 22:08 at Cross Flatts and Amy Young in 19:55 at Alness, north of Inverness in Scotland.
There were 11 other PBs. These were by Curtis Broadhead with 19:11; Anna Stocks with 20:24 and Grace Roberts with 30:11 at Woodhouse Moor; Tom Mason with 23:30; Jo Rhodes with 27:24 and Cara Sass with 27:25 at Bradford; Ciara Crossan with 25:57 at Roundhay; Clare Maxwell with 26:54 at Cross Flatts; Monika Pugeviciute with 24:07 at Armley; John Hayes with 25:07 at Potternewton; and Sarah Farnell with 25:27 at Centre Vale.
Top Age Grade% by the ladies was 74.39% by Amy Young at Alness and for the men was 74.81% by Mike Gallagher at Woodhouse Moor.
This week also saw a set of midweek parkruns. These took place in Germany where it was Unity Day on the 3rd of October – a public holiday to celebrate the anniversary of the reunification of Germany in 1990. Four Hyde Park Harriers went over to join in the celebrations. These were Poppy and Nicola Forwood at Volksgarten in Düsseldorf , Tom Elcock at Hasenheide in Berlin and Steve Milne at Neckarau in Mannheim. “Wer rastet, der rostet” as they say in Germany.
