There were 64 HPH women and 63 HPH men out parkrunning across 52 venues this week.
Twenty-six Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these courses was new to the HPH list. This was Tollgate Farm Park in The Land of the Free by Tami Bond. The park is in North Bend in Washington State. It is on an area that is known to the local Snoqualmie Tribe as baqʷab, Snoqualmie Prairie, where camas and other traditional foods and medicines were tended by traditional burning and harvest practices. For the pronunciation of baqʷab put “Snoqualmie Soundscape” into a search engine. The parkrun course is three loops on a gravel trail around the park. The course has breath-taking views of Mt. Si, encircles an historic farmhouse, barn and farmland. Farm animals may be present. Elk are known visitors to this park. There are playing fields within the park that have been recently improved and are in use for youth and adult sports, including cricket and soccer. In a corner of the park is the Plucky Palomino boutique petting zoo where small-group animal encounters are available by scheduled ticket purchase only. The zoo identifies as women-owned. The petting zoo closes from November until the beginning of March each year.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Clare Slorach in 21:21 at Potternewton.
There were ten PBs. These were by Nicki Derrick with 24:48 at Rothwell; Debbie Brown with 25:20 and Steve Brown with 25:21 at Long Eaton; Tom McNeillie with 22:31 at Roundhay; Tom Roper with 19:20 at Blickling; Grace Whyman with 30:46 at Cranleigh; Sam Dooley with 23:35 at Heslington; Becky Webb with 27:41 at Myrtle; Poppy Forwood with 36:46 at Potternewton; and Laura Hastings with 27:20 at Rothay Park.
Tom McNeillie joined the parkrun 100 club with his run at Roundhay.
Top female Age Grade% was 73.94% by Coralie Bell at Woodhouse Moor and top male Age Grade% was 78.98% by Rupert Jordan at Town Moor.
