There were 64 HPH women and 70 HPH men out parkrunning across 40 venues this week.

Twenty-three Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course and amongst them one new courses was added to the HPH list. This was Clevedon Salthouse Fields by Jed Moore. The parkrun course at Salthouse Fields is a three lap route along the edge of the Salthouse Fields Park and along the seafront. The park is on a site where salt-panning was carried out from 1689. This was done by allowing sea water to go into depressions in the fields and letting evaporation take its course. Nowadays the park is set in woodland surroundings with picturesque sea views. The park has extensive children’s play areas; tennis courts; a bowls club; a skate park; and Clevedon’s very own model railway – that runs round the field. The course also runs past Clevedon Marine Lake – the world’s largest sea water infinity pool. Originally opened in 1929 it was lavishly equipped with a timber clubhouse and changing-room; high diving and springboards; a bathing raft; deckchairs; a row of bathing huts and a bandstand. After becoming derelict and disused after the 1960s, it was restored in 2015 with money from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is now used all year round for open water swimming; sailing; canoeing; and model boat sailing. Every summer there is a Clevedon SwimRun which is described as being like a tough parkrun with some swimming included (5.8K running with 1K swimming).

There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier this week. This was Vicky Houghton in a PB time of 22:31 at Bramley. There were eight other PBs. These were by Alice Young with 23:55 at Hackney Marshes; Caroline Young with 23:22 at Bramley; Frances Andrews with 29:03 at Armley; Jack Gordon with 24:25, Caite Burke Burke with 25:44, Helen Beddow with 31:30 and Kate Solomon with 33:24 at Chevin Forest; and Paul Milligan with 22:11 at Roberts Park.

Andrew Smallwood joined the parkrun 25 club and Fleur Siswick joined the parkrun 50 club with their runs at Woodhouse Moor.

Top female Age Grade% was 70.33% by Jane Prust and top male Age Grade% was 69.86% by Rob Macdowall – both at Woodhouse Moor.
