There were 56 HPH women and 61 HPH men out parkrunning across 56 venues worldwide this week.

Twenty nine Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Three of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were Worcester Pitchcroft by Lydia Williams; Zielony Ja in Poland by Robert Butler; and Hattori Ryokuchi in Japan by Thomas Moulding and Emily Martinson.

Worcester Pitchcroft parkrun course is 1 3/4 clockwise loops around the outside of Worcester Racecourse. It is flat and predominantly on tarmac paths. Worcester Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue. It is set in a stunning location in the heart of Worcester city centre by the River Severn. Horse racing has taken place here since at least 1718. It staged Flat racing until 1966 but has since staged National Hunt racing only. It now hosts twenty-one National Hunt jump racing fixtures from April to October every year.

Zielony Ja parkrun course is a hilly four lap course on paved paths through two adjacent parks in the north of Krakow, Poland. The parks were created by developing a wasteland between two housing estates. They have a small children’s playground with swings, slides, roundabouts and an open-air pool, a fenced football/basketball court, table tennis tables and a concert amphitheatre.

Hattori Ryokuchi Park is a large, hilly park in northern Osaka. It is most famous for its Open-Air Museum of Old Japanese Farmhouses, which contains examples of rural architecture from various parts of Japan. It also contains tennis courts, bamboo gardens, ponds, playgrounds, flower gardens, a concert hall, a “flower road”, a horseback riding track, and a “water world”. Hattori Ryokuchi parkrun course is two laps on a mixture of pavements and trails in the northeastern part of the park.

There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Peter Noren in 18:44 at Alstervorland, Germany; and Thomas Moulding in 18:18 and Emily Martinson in 22:58 at Hattori Ryokuchi, Japan. There were seven PBs. These were by Edward Hale with 19:13 at Woodhouse Moor; Carol Rogers with 25:23 at Heaton; Rebecca Gray with 21:40 at Pontefract; Clare Slorach with 20:36 at Huddersfield; Andrew Black with 19:05 at Roundhay; Alex Greenwood with 19:28 at Morecambe Prom; and Joe Lawley with 22:22 at Chevin Forest.

Top female Age Grade% was 74.33% by Carol Rogers at Heaton and top male Age Grade% was 77.13% by Ian Martinson at Market Rasen Racecourse.
