PECO Round 5

A lovely morning at Roundhay Park for the final round of the PECO Cross Country, and another excellent Hyde Park Harriers turnout of 45 runners.

The route had a good mixture of everything with the biggest hill thankfully in the first mile this year rather than last years final mile.

The mens team were in a battle for 4th in the Premier division and an excellent performance meant 2nd place on the day secured the 4th spot and left them only 1 point behind 3rd.  David Driver lead the team home in 17th, with Stan Karanasios, George Anderson, Anthony Aimon, Liam O’Brien, Chris Mann, Mike Gallagher and Colin Tranter scoring for the A team.  26 men ran for us.

 

 

The ladies went into the day a safe 5th in the 1st division and also put in an excellent performance to claim 2nd spot on the day.  They ended up only 1 point behind 3rd place after a 1st on round 3 showing the potential in the team if everyone can make it to the rounds.

Helen Close was first HPH home for the 2nd PECO running, in 22nd with Rebecca Rogers and Monica Padilla not to far behind.  Robin Culshaw and Jennifer Gridley also scored for the A team.  19 ladies ran for us.

 

 

In total we have had 85 runners represent the club at the PECO this year.  Stan finished highest placed Harrier overall in 16th place and David Womersley finished 1st in the M60 class.

10 runners entered all 5 –

Vicky Houghton, Jaz Bangerh, Lucy Rider, Chris Taylor, David Womersley, Daniel Waas, Stan Karanasios, Michael Mason, Richard Edwards and Paul Sawyer.
