Sunday 19th June saw round 4 of the HPH Off Road Championship the Pudsey 10k.  Always a popular event with the club and always a nice morning with fun runs happening before the event.

The route itself is a mixture of road and off-road with plenty of hills thrown in.  This year there had been plenty of rain meaning trail shoes were the preferred option in the wooded sections.

There seemed to be a bit of a black market trade on race numbers before the start.  Paul Sawyer was all dressed up but with no number, Club Competitor leader John Blatherwick had a number but wasn’t sure he would be able to finish the race due to injury so after a bit of sweet talking the organisers allowed a switch and Paul was in.  12 Men and 8 ladies were out for points.

Just under 42 minutes after the start and the first Harrier was home in 20th place.  The honour went to Colin Tranter who claimed his 2nd premier league maximum points out of 2 appearances.

A minute later it was the battle for 1st division points and taking it this time was Jimmy Sheldon coming home in 31st place and only 18 seconds ahead of Scott Watson in 33rd.  This was Jimmy’s first max points of the year and even though Scott wasn’t feel at his best today a second place adding to his 3 wins so far leaves him in a strong position.

Next home were James Booth and then James Vickers and Chris Jones.  All scoring well in the premier division with James Vickers leading the division after 4 rounds.

Jeremy Forber claimed top points in the 2nd division and is only 1 point behind Jack Rose who was missing this round.  Both Jason Newell and Russell Webster scored a good points haul in there first round.

1st Harrier lady home was Ruth Hancox finishing a good 2 and a half minutes of the next Harrier in 238th place.  She scored max points for the 2nd division on her 1st outing, but Honor Baldry still has a good lead after winning the first 3 rounds.

Next home was Clare Evans and she got her Off Road championship off to a good start with max points in the 1st division.  Emma Amor was missing but still leads.

Maika Ohno and Caroline Sanders were next both scoring good points in there divisions.

The first premier lady home was Rebecca Rogers in a lower than normal 364th place.  She was running with her brother so will be happy with the max points which is her 2nd in 2 rounds.  Monica Padilla wasn’t at this round but still leads.

There is still plenty to play for in all the divisions with still another 6 rounds to go and it being best 7 scores from 10 rounds.

In the divisions we have had the following scorers so far –

Mens Premier – 10 out of 20,    Mens 1st – 5 out of 20,    Mens 2nd – 6

Ladies Premier – 7 out of 18,     Ladies 1st – 8 out of 20,   Ladies 2nd – 10
