Race the Train

Race the Train

Hi all,

As some of you know, this August I will be taking part in an event in Tywyn, Wales known as “Race the Train” and was wondering if some of you wanted to join me. This was my first race back in 2013 and I have been holidaying in Tywyn since before I could run!

“Race the Train” this year takes place on the Saturday 15th August and takes place alongside the Talyllyn Railway over four different distances throughout the day. In the morning there are 3.5, 5.5 and 10km races, all happening simultaneously. In the afternoon, there is the ‘biggie’, the 14 miler, there and back. For those of you who want the glory of beating the train you need to be looking for finish the 10km in 55 minutes and the 14 miles in roughly 1 hour 48 minutes.

As you might guess, this is not an easy event; you will need your off-road shoes! There are a lot of hills, fields, mud and even a ford at one point but it is a lot of fun and really well organised.

If you want to get involved, feel free to speak to me via Facebook or at club sessions. I will be looking to travel down during the day on Friday as the journey does take quite a while and, depending on numbers, you will be welcome to stay at my parents’ flat which is 10 minutes’ walk from event HQ.
