Many thanks to Chris Smith for sending in the below.  The Vets race series hasn’t had many Harriers taking part so far but they are good cheap fun events.

West park vets (24/5/16) was its usual fun 5 mile course of Becketts Park. The event was superbly directed by Horsforth Harriers. Three Male Harriers entered the event. Chris Smith was 31st (for 7th M40) 34.13 was closely followed home by Charlie Jackett in 42nd (for 8th M35) 35.32 and were chased by Mick Mason 149th in a time of 51.53. The race was one by Jonathan Wills from Leeds City in a cracking time of 28.44. The Harriers were one of the smallest represented teams, and would like to encourage its members to join this excellent race series.

Kirkstall vets (31/5/16) as expected a magnificently well hosted and excellently marshalled event by Kirkstall Harriers. The 6 mile undulating route was its usual exciting challenge on and off road either side of the canal. The competitive race was run by 97 ladies and 148 men. Three male Harriers ran, Chris Smith – 24th (5th for age M40) 39.16, Charlie Jackett 34th (9th for age M35) 41.15 and Mick Mason 138th at 58.24. The race was won in a superb time of 33.59 by Will Kerr of Saltaire Stiders. Chris, Charlie and Mick would like to extend their invites to the series to all members over 35 to this exciting and competitive race series.
