There were 62 HPH women and 70 HPH men out parkrunning across 51 venues this week.
Twenty-six Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these was new to the HPH list. This was Millennium parkrun in Canmore, Alberta, Canada by Emma Amor. Canmore is located approximately 50 miles west of Calgary near the southeast boundary of Banff National Park. It is located in the Bow Valley within Alberta’s Rocky Mountains. Canmore is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. Climbing is popular with traditional, sport and multi-pitch climbs throughout the Bow Valley, and the area is a world destination for ice climbing. Kayakers and canoeists can enjoy guided trips or independently navigate the surrounding rivers and lakes. Caving enthusiasts enjoy the extensive Rat’s Nest Cave. Mountain bikers enjoy the extensive trail network in the Canmore area. The parkrun course starts and finishes in Millennium Park. It follows a loop that crosses the Bow River twice, once by the Canmore Engine Bridge and again by the Pedestrian Bridge. Canmore is known by the indigenous Nakoda people as Chuwapchipchiyan Kude Bi. Applications requesting that this be made an official name have thus far been unsuccessful.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Clare Evans in 25:09 on her first visit to Sandall Park in Doncaster. There were twelve PBs. These were by Aisling Davis with 23:20, Matthew Drake with 24:21 and Dan Lee with 49:20 at Woodhouse Moor; Jane Prust with 28:14 at Pontefract; Andrew Carrier with 19:19, Paul Robinson with 21:24 and Rebecca Dawson with 26:50 at Roundhay; Grace Roberts with 27:15 at Armley; Nicki Derrick with 26:35 at The Pastures; Lesley-Ann Donnell with 26:11 at Holy Cross College; and Jonathan Mason with 28:50 at Millhouses.
Andrew Smallwood joined the parkrun 50 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor. Ellie Shipp and Lee Taylor joined the parkrun 100 club with their runs at Hove Promenade and Potternewton respectively. Kristan Webb joined the parkrun 250 club with her run at Woodhouse Moor as well as the parkrun volunteer 250 club after giving the First Timers’ Welcome.
Top female Age Grade% was 72.90% by Jane Prust and top male Age Grade% was 75.71% by Ian Martinson – both at Pontefract.
